17 TUESDAY - OCTOBER 1972
291ST DAY - 75 DAYS TO COME
Phil called while I was out and I called him back at
"Gamut of Games." [illegible word crossed out] Herb Hochstetter had called
him. He has the following to show for Post: STEPPING STONES,
GOLD DIGGERS, ADVANCE. I'll have to following: I'll have BONUS,
POST-HASTE, SUPER-TAC-TOE, and ADD-A-LETTER (which I told
him I had developed to replace TAKE-A-WORD).
Wrote to Keith Tuggle about the folder he sent me on
"Light Control Film." Also mentioned the rule additions in
EXECUTIVE DECISION.
Wrote to Kathy Brooks thanking her for sending me the two
letters on ACQUIRE. Told her that I sent FOCUS booklet
to the two writers, which I did with a short thank
you note.
Wrote to Earl. Sent him the insurance man's name and
address again. Told him Al Richter would like to work on
DON'T BLOW A FUSE.
Called Eve Auchincloss. (she didn't say anything about my
message yesterday.) Told her about the error in the list
price of STRATO TAC-TICS. She will call immediately and is
sure it can be caught. My pay for the last column is
in the works and I should be getting it by the end of
the month. She'll try and get some word on my next col-
umn when she goes to Washington this week, and will let me know.
Arthur called. NYGA meeting 11/2 O.K.
Thought of a possible variation of ADD-A-LETTER. Each
player takes 5 letters at the start and turns them face
up. These can be used whenever the player wishes.
(cont. from 10/18)[10/18]
haven't seen it). I said I would.
Stanley Chess called. He is now the editor and published
publisher of a new game magazine. He raised the
capital for a precarious start. The game companies are in-
terested and some may advertise. He wants me to write
a column and I (without thinking) told him that the
publishers of S & T are thinking of coming out with a
general game magazine. Didn't commit myself - but didn't
say "no."
For a while the WASHINGTON POST was considering pub-
lishing his magazine (being quite impressed with
the editorial content) but they are really much more in-
terested in expanding into radio and TV.
(cont. on 10/15)
