9 MONDAY - OCTOBER 1972
COLUMBUS DAY CELEBRATION - 283RD DAY - 83 DAYS TO COME
To Boston Road and got repros [reproductions] of SOLITAIRE DICE and
NO WAY, 2 of each.
Also got repros of the letter I borrowed from Martin Gardner
on 9/30, with DODGEM and SERPENT.
Phil Orbanes and Joel Gaines here at 10. Stayed for lunch
and left soon after. In general they just looked at games
and books, downstairs, and upstairs.
Joel talked about a game that he had played as a kid. From the
description I finally thought it was PURSUIT (see card file).
It wasn't.
Joel is going to London where he will get together with Graeme
Levin. Then he will go to Paris for several months. Pierre Berloquin
came up and Joel asked for his address. Gave it to him
and said I would write to Pierre about him.
Joel wants me to look at REALM. The rules don't have to be
finalized until next spring but the components have to be
wrapped up shortly. Phil will get the material to me, probably
next week. (He is pretty sure I won't find any changes in the
components.)
Phil brought me the board for the game TOP SECRET he mentioned
to me previously. He found it in his parant's [parents'] attic and hopes
to find the rules and parts next time he is there.
Phil brought me a copy of his letter to Bill Knox concerning
THE PYRAMID PUZZLE, THE EMPEROR'S ENCHANTMENT, HOLEY TERROR,
and GROOVE.
Also brought me one of each of the following Gamesheets:-
CROSSFIRE, CHINESE CHECK, TRACT, FRIDAY THE 13TH, and
WORDS FOR THE WISE. I gave him SOLITAIRE DICE (with 5 small
dice) and NO WAY (with a blue erasable pencil and 12
setup cards).
Called G.A.F. Bill Eckhart is in Portland. He sent me a letter
(which I should get tomorrow). He wants the rules for
JUNGLE RACE rewritten so that young children can understand
them. He needs them by the end of this week. If I have [illegible word crossed out]
any problems I can reach him in Portland. The secretary gave me
the number and said she thinks its [it's] O.K. if I call collect.
BB and I looked at the rules. She said she'd try and redo
them. In the evening BB
Decided to call Rose Wilson of Neo Press concerning Y,
instead of writing. Checked with the operator. A person
to person call is always $2.15 for 3 minutes and 30¢ for
one minute after. Station to station is $1.00 & $.30 before 5
and $.60 & $.20 after 5.
