4 MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 1972
LABOR DAY - 248TH DAY - 118 DAYS TO COME
Played WAR AND PEACE with BB using my ideas of yesterday.
She liked it. I probebly was too tired to like anything.
Working on equipment for WAR AND PEACE and for
UP THE ORGANIZATION.
(cont. from 9/5) [9/6]
last card of that character, and 10 points for identifying
the murderer could be used. (Wexler liked the game.)
Wald showed POWER. (24 plains, 20 forest, and 20 mountain - placed
face up at random.) (Wexler said it was too good.)
Wald left after this, saying he'd bring CASINO ROYALE next time.
Neither of them felt well enough to finish it up. Before
leaving he asked about BALANCE OF POWER. It is just about
100% sure.
Wexler and I played WAR AND PEACE while Claude wrote the rules
for AND THEN THERE WERE NONE. Wexler liked it a lot. We
speeded it up by using 2 dice thru the two long legs.
Wexler mentioned that in Claude's auction GAME they
eliminated the trading during the auction, leaving it all
for the period after the auction is done.
Wexler told us that several years ago he invented a game
he called TOPSY. He showed it to Ideal and they rejected
it. Later they came out with BATTLING TOPS, by Eddie Goldfarb
The method of activating the tops is different, but
the method of play, Wexler says, is the same. Wexler doesn't
want to cause a fuss about it because that would give
him a bad name in the industry.
Wexler and I played part of a game of INVASION. At first
he didn't care too much for it but then he got really involved
with it. Took it with him.
He's having a meeting with top management next Monday. He'll
call Wald with word on how much more time we will have to
devise games. We'll probably get together next Friday. He
said he was counting on using FUN CITY and my having it by then.
In the INVASION rules I added [illegible crossed out] the statement that
the 2 points for occupying the 2nd city supercedes the
one point for cutting the railroad.
To WOMAN'S DAY. Marvin Channing told me that
Duncan Carter had been bounced. He introduced me to the new man in the
job. He read the rules for ONE AT A TIME BY THE MILLIONS
and thought it was too difficult. I said it was just
different. He agreed when we played it - and he liked it.
There is no chance of getting the game ready for this
season, but they still are interested for next year.
I'll probably go down there in November to show it to
the advertising manager.
