26 SATURDAY - AUGUST 1972
239th DAY - 127 DAYS TO COME
Jerry D'Arcey called. He was in Kennedy waiting for a plane. He had been visiting M.B. with a new version of EARTHQUAKE. They liked it a lot. Suggested some changes and Jerry thinks that once he makes them it will be a pretty sure thing.
KU-FU is definite with Stevens.
He had a game OH HELL (similar to std. card game) which a gal in California manufactures. Don't recall what he was doing with it.
He will be going for the operation early next week.
BB went to Boston Post Road to get repros of the cover, contents page, and the article on SMESS in GAMES & PUZZLES #3. Mailed it to Mike Alber.
Rcd. rules for NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION and BATTLE PLAN from Richard Loomis. Also a note that I overpaid 15¢ since the
price I sent was in ALBION. A printed flier noted
that there will be a naval warfare, a space game, and
a tactical nuclear war game coming - GAMES.
Letter from Leonard Willett saying that he had filed the necessary papers for the N.Y. State refund.
Finished TRIPPPLES, then did THE BOSS, STRATO TAC-TICS,
AIRPORT, EVADE, DIMENSIONS, ALL IN THE FAMILY, & SPLIT LEVEL AGGRAVATION,
completing the BOOK WORLD column.
Thinking of ideas for UP THE ORGANIZATION. Looked at my
copy of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Didn't get any ideas from it.
Wrote to Don Greenwood at A.H. [Avalon Hill] explaining the picture of
me, GETTYSBURG, and ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II at Xerox. Mentioned PANZERFAUST and THE GENERAL.
Dale and Phil brought me 4 copies of S&T #32 and 6 copies of #33, at my request.
(cont from 8/27) [8/28]
Phil and me to discuss games for Post. The first box
(if it goes thru) will be Raisin Bran. We can have the back
and one side panel. They want to get away from the
kids image, and Herb thinks that family games are the way.
I suggested puzzles and he liked that too. I'll call Phil
when he gets back from vacation and setup a date.
2nd call from Felicia late in afternoon. She wrote to Jim Kraus
saying that a small company had been interested
in PROFIT but it was being merged, so we'll leave
it with 3M for the present.
