25 FRIDAY - AUGUST 1972
238th DAY - 128 DAYS TO COME
Phil Orbanes called. He delivered a set of the p. and p. [pencil and paper] rules (SPACE STATIONS, etc.) to Hoi Polloi and put a set in the mails for me. He is going on vacation until after Labor Day.
Call from Herb Hochstetter, after Phil called him. Nothing definite at the meeting yesterday with Gray & Post, but they are interested in a game. He loaned the AGOG to the man from Post who was interested in getting a copy for himself. I said that he could keep it and I'd give Herb another. Herb said let him buy it.
Rcd. Aug. TOYS, New products showed GENERATION RAP and TRAVEL CARDS (by 666).
Rcd. call from Alice McElhone, sister of the inventor of TRIPPPLES. She didn't receive my request for the glossy until more than a week after it was post marked. Told her there was still time to get it in the article. If her brother hasn't sent it yet, he should send it directly to Redmond. Read her my review for S&T and she liked it. Suggested as a variation that players continue back to their starting corner. She liked it and will tell her brother.
Rcd. glossies and also color transparencies of STRATO TAC-TICS and STRATO CHECKERS. Letter that he was working on CRESCENDO, the ultimate in the series. He will send me the rules and extra pieces as soon as they are ready.
Call from Felicia. She read me the letter from Bob Johnson and it wasn't quite as promising as she had led me to believe. All it said was PE-LING, ANOTHER, DIGIT, TRIAGO, INDIAN CHESS, and TOTTER (He said TROTTER)* are active in the game play. She can tell this is her restless game inventors. *Also MAKE A PUZZLE GAME.
CUBITS will be introduced in 6-1-73 together with FITTING & PROPER.
Rappaports tells her that the game business stinks. 3M is not giving them service. They still don't have a Gamette rack.
She asked me to return the rules for SIJJEH. A new company is coming in next week to look at games. She'll show them LOTTERY.
Wald called. Wexler's Secretary called him and set the date for next Tuesday at 10, at B and B. Called Claude. Told him. Also told him I had an UP THE ORGANIZATION game pretty well worked out.
2nd call from Felicia. An inventor, Philip Kaplan, was there
with a puzzle he calls TACTICS. She thinks it is like a
lot of other things, but would like my opinion. He was willing
to travel here and I arranged for him to come at nine.
