30 SUNDAY - JULY 1972
NINTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY - 212TH DAY - 154 DAYS TO COME
Tried out my new ideas for ONE AT A TIME BY THE MILLIONS
with BB and Dana. Worked better! Later decided to allow
a take off of exactly four cards only. Also decided to
prohibit two cards of the same type orthogonally next
to each other.
Thought that the same idea could be used as a gambling game -
possible name - STARS IN YOUR EYES.
Finished the new board for THE FAIRY TALE GAME. Thinking of
ideas to speed it up - such as when a player gets a
character he got in a previous turn he takes a character
in that story with no markers on it. Also the game is
over when three tales have markers, regardless of color, on
all characters. Testing by myself and with BB.
Wrote the rules for THE FAIRY TALE GAME and started
JUNGLE RACE.
(cont. from 9/9) [9/24]
short. He agreed. They'll have another on it.
It appears, from our discussions, that Graeme raised the
money to finance G & P himself, as well as doing
everything around the office, including sweeping the floor.
We discussed his SPECULATE. I said that it was too difficult to
get the stock values to rise. He said it often came out that way,
but better players cause the stocks to rise. Didn't go
into it too deeply.
[Started 9/24] [Arrows pointing up and down.]
Phil and Dale brought me a clipping from MADEMOISELLE
advertising a game RATED X.
(cont from 9/28) [9/28]
He is aware of the material in Murray but thinks
SIJJEH is better, especially since his wife "improved" it.
He is reworking the rules to spell out victory conditions.
Felicia showed me another letter from an inventor describing
(I believe) "Abstract Puzzle Blocks". They are simply wood blocks
in different shapes (different sizes with the same thickness) and
colors with different colors on each size. Object to put them
together in a frame to form abstract art.
Felicia learned from Bill Caruson that FACTS IN FIVE is their
best selling game. SLEUTH is the best of the Gamettes.
Dorothy Shapiro says that ACQUIRE is still fabulous.
EXECUTIVE DECISION is O.K. (Henry Levy has left Brentanos.)
S & R is in trouble with all the stores. They are not shipping
things that are ordered. Not only BALI, but SCRABBLE and
their other games too. Felicia has just gotten tired
of complaining to them.
She is afraid that the BALI royalties will not be enough to
(cont. on 7/29)
