29 SATURDAY - JULY 1972
211TH DAY - 155 DAYS TO COME
Finished the equipment for ONE AT A TIME BY THE MILLIONS
including a 6 x 4 layout and 54 cards. Played with BB, Dave,
and Marylin. O.K. but rather slow moving. Thought that I could
speed it up by allowing a takeoff of pieces in an "L" shape
as well as in a straight line and a rectangle.
During the day started working on a new board for
THE FAIRY TALE GAME, eliminating the extra compartment in
each fairy tale.
(cont from 7/30) [9/28]
keep her going and brought up borrowing money from me. She
wants to pay interest and also to reduce her fee on ACQUIRE
to 20%. I told her that the latter certainly won't be necessary, but
she insisted that she wanted to get something from it.
Hallmark is looking at KING SOLOMON'S DIVERSION (the puzzle
called TACTICS - see 8/25) but nothing else since they are
too busy with packaging their line etc. I brought up FOCUS
and she'll check on it.
She managed to get Hallmark to give her $25 more a month.
Alan Turoff has come up with an "Auto Chess" gadget
which Dynamic Design is very interested in. She set a time
limit and they sent it back not having finished the costing.
She'll now have to send it back.
When Turoff first came to her he had a word GAME which
she refused to even look at - no one wants word games. It had
been refused by Parker but personal [personnel] there were playing it
and liked it so much that they contacted him and will publish it.
While looking for Gary Sherbell's old model she decided to clear
out some material. I took the model of DOMINIQUE (I
have another set with the name COPADE). Hallmark had been
interested in it, but she couldn't locate the inventor.
Also took her material on PSYCHE-PATHS. She is giving up on
it. When she interests a company in it they check and find
out that wholesalers and jobbers are loaded with the Funtastic
edition. Some of it Chuck Titus I am sure will want. I'll
write to him and send it to him.
To Skunk Works. Spoke to Jim Dunnigan. He told me of his visit
from Graeme. Actually they got together in England and agreed
to exchange ads. Jim was sorry that he was busy when Graeme
came and didn't have much time for him. (GAMES & PUZZLES.)
Jim is still interested in a general games magazine, but
not for at least another year until S & T is built up
more. Circulation is now about 18,000. (G & P incidentally
sells about 21,000 so far.) They are short of cash for
advertising as much as they would like to build up the
circulation.
