25 TUESDAY - JULY 1972
ST. JAMES, APOSTLE - 207TH DAY - 159 DAYS TO COME
July TOYS came. New products had FLIGHT CAPTAIN
by Lowe. Just another PARCHEESI takeoff.
Rcd. an answer to my PLAYTHINGS request from the makers
of GOOGOL. It is children's game. Their other games
are SIX SIXTY SIX and TRAVEL CARDS, both based on quizzes.
I called Leonard Willett to tell him that I had seen Felicia
yesterday. Discussed my tax returns a little.
Oxhandler's cousin, Lester, called for the TRIPPPLES address.
Felicia called. She is preparing an ad for Rappaport's 80th
anniversary. She wanted some kind of children's puzzle
that the kids could solve and bring in. I suggested a
follow-the-dots up to #80. She asked if I could
prepare one, for pay with I.S. getting a cut. I said yes and
I'll let her arrange the payment. Also told her it wasn't
that big a deal to prepare that type of puzzle. She also
asked if I would appear at the store to play games with
children, also for pay: Why not? It will be after labor day.
POST had mentions and extracts from two books:
GAMES FOR THE SUPERINTELLIGENT by James Fixx
(Doubleday, $4.95).
Q. Which word contains all five vowels in alphabetical order?
A. Facetious.
THE MOSCOW PUZZLES: 359 MATHEMATICAL RECREATIONS by Boris A.
Kordemsky (Scribners, $10).
Q. What arithmetic symbol can we place between 2 and 3
to make a number greater than 2 but less than 3?
A. A decimal point.
Fay Hartog called. The sales dept. wanted to know how many
copies of the returned AGOG's I wanted. I said that
if they were 65¢ I'd take as many as they had. If
more she'll contact me.
Called Claude and spoke to Anne. Claude called me later.
He spoke to Wald yesterday and Wald was going to call Wexler about
an appointment. Claude didn't hear from Wald about it.
Claude and I discussed a date including Earl. Claude
called him and then Earl called me. Date Thursday at his
borrowed apartment. I'm to call Claude.
Call from Phil Orbanes. Carl Eisenberg called him after
checking with Bob Reiss. They want only p & p games to
retail for $2. They are counting on sales in the
neighborhood of 1,000,000 a year for the 6 games.
Phil is working on three games, two of which he told me
