23 SUNDAY - JULY 1972
EIGHTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY - 205TH DAY - 161 DAYS TO COME
Call from Phil Orbanes. We'll meet tomorrow morning at
Carl's as planning. Thursday night BB and I will go to
visit him.

We will go over the games we have on hand. We'll worry
about how we'll split the proceeds after we get them. When
he and Jim Dunnigan were working on the games for Renwal
they spent more time working on the worrying about the
split of the money than in working on the games.
I mentioned that Omar DeWitt had said about Lou Zocchi's
trouble with Renwal. Actually Phil has been paying
Lou royalties for BATTLE OF BRITAIN, as part of his terminal
agreement with Renwal. This ends this year (I believe) and
Sim Pub is now trying to get the rights to the game from
Renwal. // Claude called and I called back. Date next Saturday.
Thinking of some p. and p. game ideas.
LAND GRABBER - area divided into irregularly shaped spaces.
Players start with 1 and then try to move out by
capturing adjacent areas. Each player chooses one or more
numbers from a supply he has printed on his side. The
number of owned adjacent areas is added to the number(s)
picked is determining the winner. (Rough idea.)
ROAD BUILDERS - Instead of my previous ideas, try having different types of line segments that are chosen
to fill in squares in accordance
with dice throws. (Rough idea.)
[Diagram of 7 squares - each with a different line segment or segments crossing it from different edges and corners.]
Business GAME. Different directions for getting and losing
stock and for causing it to go up or down are printed
in the squares of a grid. Variety is acheived by assigning
different starting positions by dice throw. Probably best
to have each player have more than one "piece" to
move once across the "board". (Rough idea.)
Played FAIRY TALE GAME with BB and Dale. Abt. 20 minutes.
(cont. from 7/24) [7/24]
Her BALI royalties dropped. HIGH BID is down to almost
nothing. She still hasn't rcd. my statement.
To Carl Eisenberg's office. Hoi Polloi wants 6 games by Aug.
24th. Would like to choose from 10 or 12. They must be
able to be played on planes or in a car. P. and P. is preferred.
Cards are O.K. But pcs. of cardboard are not.
They want first refusal rights on games of a similar
type for 24 months. I said O.K. on p. & p., but not on cards
since I already have connections for card games. O.K. with Carl.
I brought up the 6 games (XANDO, etc.) that Bob Hallowell
(cont. on 7/22)
