27 TUESDAY - JUNE 1972
179TH DAY - 187 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. an ad sheet from SIMILE II for two simulation
games EXPLORERS I and EXPLORERS II - THE CONQUISTADORS.
Rcd. a letter from Don Turnbull. He is sending me photo-copies
of all the backnumber ALBIONs and a subscription from then on.
Refuses to take money. Wants me to send him SLEUTH
and EXECUTIVE DECISION airmail since there is a dock strike
in England - and to bill him (which of course I won't).
Mentions SMOG, ECOLOGY, BUGS & LOOOPS, GAMES & PUZZLES,
MONOPOLY, EQUATIONS, ON-SETS, PROPAGANDA, WFF 'N PROOF,
TRI-NIM, QUERIES 'N THEORIES, FORMULA I, KIMBO, SPY RING,
TOTOPOLY, RAILROADER, CAMPAIGN, RISK, 4,000 A.D., SPECULATE,
(which was done by Graeme Levin), A.H.'s THE STOCK MARKET GAME,
Triang which he believes went bankrupt, DIPLOMACY rules
changes.
Rcd. INTERNATIONAL SKI TEAM RACE and WHICH WAY TO THE LODGE?
from Strategy House and U.S. AUTO CLUB RACING GAME from
Midwest Research. (None of the 3 were very exciting.)
Red's assistant, George called me about my column. In AIRPORT
I mentioned a range from $40,000 to $5,000, which they
found a little strange. Thought about it and called to suggest
he add the word "down" after "$40,000." He'll try to get it
changed but it is already set.
Asked to speak to Jim Dunnigan about Campion's article. Not
taking calls. Supposed to call me back but didn't.
Called Bob Schneider of R.G.I - person to person, collect-about
Scotland Yard, Not in. Supposed to call back but didn't.
Called Bernie Lane about the games he picked up at Xerox.
Left word for him to call me back but he didn't.
Rcd. a call from
{Elaine Cook
{46 Maxon St. (716-637-4147)
{Brockport, N.Y. 14420
who saw the Xerox exhibit in Rochester. She and her hus-
band, Wayne, have invented a political game which they call
RED, WHITE, AND BLUE. She said it not limited to a presidential
campaign, that it is for adults, and that they have had art work
done on the board and some sample cards. Gave her Felicia's
name and telephone number and suggested that she call person-
to-person.
Thinking about my game OPPORTUNITY<. In the 1968 diary found
a entry on it (2/27/68) using the MANIPULATION board.
This will fit the "gambling" category so I'll hold off and
give the Amberstones first crack at it.
Claude called twice during evening to talk about the games
(cont. on 6/24)
