1 THUSDAY - JUNE 1972
153RD DAY - 213 DAYS TO COME
Finished the rules for PAIR OFF. Prepared a "memory"
board and a "switch" marker. Started covering letter to
Bob Johnson and worked on a solitaire set-up to send him.
Catching up on game diary.
(cont. from 7/25) [7/25]
about. THE PARTY GAME - is an election game in a parliament
environment, not the U.S. type. DOUBLE THINK is based on
a part of Phil's VIET NAM game. Players allocate
a set number of "points" between 6 different areas and the
payoff depends on the relationship in the different area.
I mentioned that I was working on a GAME where the
object was to bring a "spy" to a certain objective. This
reminded him of a game published (I believe) in the
50's called TOP SECRET. One player has a spy in the U.S.
who has obtained atomic secrets. He tries to get a visa
and get out of the country through an exit city before
the other player discovers his plans and captures him.
Phil thinks he still has the game at his parent's home.
David Eisendrath called. Odier has sent him more material
on games like LE TROIKER, this time based on squares.
He, Odier, is getting a U.S. patent on them. Eisendrath
is going to Japan until the beginning of Sept. When he
gets back he will get the material from me and get in
touch with Tom Atwater.
(cont. from 7/26) [7/26]
think it is much better than their game, (STOCKS & BONDS)
I suggested trying SKYSCRAPERS with House of Games. She'll
write when it comes back.
I also asked if she had broached the subject of
FOREIGN INTRIGUE to Dynamic Design. No, only LOTTERY.
At present Herb Roth is in a conference in California
with Dynamic. They are thinking of moving into puzzles
and Herb wants to try and stop them. He doesn't think
they can compete with Mag-Nif and Hallmark. Felicia also
thinks they are considering publishing. (Doubleday
offered them $1,000,000 for the company.)
Called Arthur. He called me back after Wald got thru to Wexler. We'll
have a date at B & B next Tuesday at 9:45.
Called Anne to tell her about date at Earl's tomorrow. Asked her if
Claude would be able to go to B & B next week. Probably. They'll leave
on vacation in the evening.
(cont. on 5/3)
