21 SUNDAY - MAY 1972
PENTECOST - 142ND DAY - 224 DAYS TO COME
Playing around with PAIR OFF solitaire and recorded a few,
one particularly interesting.
Felicia called after visiting the Stationery Show.
She saw Jim Kraus at 3M. (Bill Caruson & Keith Tuggle are not in.)
The gamettes are in a suspended animation while they test
various approaches. VENTURE and SLEUTH are holding up but
MONAD is not good. No idea on what will happen to PROFIT.
IMAGE will be put in Bookshelf, and the art work is great.
She asked me to look at House of Games and U.S. Game Systems,
which she didn't get to. She hears that the House of Games
financial game (SPECULATE) is doing well at Brentano's.
Dynamic Design is the only booth that was busy. She asked about
FOREIGN INTRIGUE and they are not interested in a mystery game.
Also not interested in LOTTERY, since they are not in operation
all over the country.
She called Constance Herrick at Parker. Bill Dohrmann will call her
Monday and she'll check on LOTTERY.
She has a new client who has spent $8,000 on a model for a
game called BEAT POLLUTION. Dynamic is interested in it.
(cont. from 5/22) [5/22]
him before he leaves, for England and a meeting with Waddington.
The call he was supposed to make to me was to ask if I had
rcd. the package of games.// He said that the advertising rates
for S & T were exorbitant.
To Urban Systems. Spoke to a girl there (who I met at Toy Fair). She
doesn't have THE GODFATHER GAME review from S & T and I told her I'd
bring it. I told her about the Urban Systems games I used at
Xerox and that I displayed two boards from THE GODFATHER GAME. She
said she'd send me a replacement board.
To Small Wonders. Tom Atwater there. He gave me a check for $7.62
for 1st quarter royalties on ODD OR EVEN, TEMPO, and INTERPLAY.
(He said that his client only got $.95 from M.B. for ONE WAY.)
He talked about getting back the games from Stancraft and I said
probably the only one we could do something with is TRANSFORMATION
but I doubt if he'll do anything.
Bob Johnson of Hallmark stopped by and said he'd see me
tomorrow. He said he was reading AGOG.
Talked to Tom about Alex' name on SQUARE OFF. Alex insisted on it
and was angry it wasn't larger. He won't allow them to sell it in Europe
if it isn't larger. Parker expects sales of about 250,000 and Tom is
disappointed.
Tom asked if NEO-CHESS (MAD-MATE) was at 3M. No.
Took ad sheets for SNOWFLAKE, TOGETHER (a construction set),
TETZL, SPAZL, SPINZL, CASTZL, STARZL, STAR PUZZLE,
[Illegible crossed out], SCORPIUS, FOUR CORNERS PUZZLE, NOVA PUZZLE,
JUPITER, (10 puzzles by Stewart Coffin).
(cont. on 5/20)
