18 THURSDAY - MAY 1972'
139TH DAY - 227 DAYS TO COME
To "Sign of the Dove" for introduction of MB's "Cadeaux"
line. Met Mickey Mackay and Marvin Katz there. He
said he is almost finished with YESTERDAY'S GAMES. He'll
contact me about getting together to give it back to
me. Also he'll give me a bibliography he prepared for
his book.
Met Marshall Lucas for a moment. Quite pleasant.
There wasn't much in the way of games in the "Cadeaux"
line. SWORDS AND SHIELDS has been redone in a
scroll package under the name VIKING KRIG-LEK. The
following are in attractive new packages : - BRIDGE FOR TWO,
SUMMIT, CROSS WORD (which is probably GROUP). New are
LIARS DICE, BUNKER POKER, and WEIGHT WATCHER'S CANASTA.
No rules with any of them.
To Felicia. Showed her PAIR OFF which she liked. Showed her
COMPUTER BINGO which she was not too impressed with, but she's
willing to show it to Bob Johnson. She asked if I'd be willing
to help her demonstrate PSYCHE-PATHS for Bob Johnson & I said
of course.
A big company offered $1,000,000 for Dynamic Design but Ennio
Racinelli didn't want to sell.
The two women who did the game JUNK have found a manufacturer
of pianos (I think) who has a GAME of his own which is
something like MONOPOLY Felicia thinks. He wants to manufacture
both, but would like them to put up some of the money.
To R.G.I. Went over the HOLIDAY board and found one small
correction.
Asked Bob for a copy of WHITE HOUSE, which Bob is just about
ready to write off as finished. He'll save one for me. He also
said he'd send me some grease pencils from their plant tomorrow.
To Simulations to see Phil Orbanes. we'll meet Monday at 4 and
then go together to see Bill Knox about GROOVE, etc.
Bob Hallowell will not exhibit the p & p games (XANDO, etc.)
at the Stationery Show because of the danger of knock-offs.
He is still in the process of having his stock offering approved
by the S.E.C.
Carl Eisenberg will get together with Phil after Stationery
Show to discuss the status of SPACE STIX, FREE FORM and
Phil's items with Hoi Polloi.
Herb Hochstetter's name came up and I asked whether I should work
on the ideas he suggested. Phil said only if he says there is
a specific market for them. Phil has worked out some of
Herb's suggestions and then Herb didn't do anything with them.
I asked what his stake in the p. & p. games is and Phil said he
has a piece of Gametime.
When Phil was working for Reiss he came up with an excellent
GAME based on nostalgia but Reiss didn't
