13 SATURDAY - MAY 1972
134TH DAY - 232 DAYS TO COME
Rcd, 2 copies of GAMES & PUZZLES (May & June '72) and a letter from
Graeme Levin the editor. He likes my S & T column and would like
me to write for them.
May (No. 1) contains articles or mentions or ads on : - GOAL!, PENALTY!,
[Illegible crossed out.] SOCCERAMA, WEMBLEY, SOCCERBOSS, TOP TEAM, WORLD SOCCER,
SUBBUTEO, RACING DEMON, CONTRABAND, GO, SCRABBLE, DIPLOMACY,
THE GAME, POLYOPTOMY, MONOPOLY (with errors), FIGHTING SAIL, (an
original game), PREDICAMENTS, TOWER, KALAHA, MULTIPUZZLE,
THE LONDON GAME.
May (No. 2) contains CHESS, SCRABBLE, RISK, SUBBUTEO, DIPLOMACY,
GO, GO FOR BROKE, WATERLOO, STALINGRAD, AFRIKA KORPS, MIDWAY,
ANZIO BEACHHEAD, NORMANDY, NAPOLEON AT WATERLOO, TRIREME,
BATTLING TOPS, SPROUTS, LEGS, DIRTY LADY, NUMERO (original game),
POKOL, CAMPAIGN.
Sym Robbins brought the box of game parts Bernie took back from
Rochester to Marylin's. I picked them up.
In a store in Teaneck saw a puzzle by Skor-Mor called RIGHT ON.
[Diagram of 5 pegs standing vertically. Each has 4 beads on it. The beads (and pegs) are red, blue, yellow, green, and black, in various orders on each peg.]
There are 5 pegs and 20 beads started as
shown (except that the colors are not
necessarily as shown). Either 1 or 2 beads
are lifted from the top of a peg as a move and placed either
so that touching beads match in color or so that the bead,
or bottom one in case of two, matches the color of the peg
moved to. Object to get all the beads on their own colored
peg. They say it can be done in 26 moves. The pegs, I believe,
can hold up to six beads.
(cont. from 5/14) [5/23]
To Austin Enterprises. Took ad sheet for DOMUNIQUE.
To Dynamic Design and spoke to Ennio Racinelli in general.
To Pacific Game. Gini Scott was just leaving. Spoke to Jerry Kayle
a few minutes. I'll get a review copy of DIMENSIONS Thursday.
To M.B. Spoke to Marshall Lucas and his wife. He said he'd get in
touch with me sometime about seeing my games.
Met Gini Scott after show. She had a bad cold and begged off
from coming up to the Bronx tonight. Had supper in a coffee
shop with her (Dutch). Gave her the copy of SLEUTH I got from
Jim Kraus today.
Called Phil Orbanes and I'll pick HABITAT and HONORABLE RELATIONS
tomorrow at Simulations. He told me about seeing GAMES & PUZZLES
and I told him they were my copies. They rcd. a letter several
months ago suggesting exchange of material, including my column.
They never answered.
Rcd. a $700 check from Xerox. Under separate cover rcd. copy of
GREATER ROCHESTER COMMERCE with writeup on Xerox show. (In ex. man. folder.)
