11 THURSDAY - MAY 1972
ASCENSION DAY - 132ND DAY - 234 DAYS TO COME
Felicia called. Virginia Russel paid a few hundred dollars to have
art work done for RACE THRU SPACE GAMES for submittion [submission] to
Xerox. They didn't accept it and then Virginia didn't get
it back. They "think" they sent it back to her. Virginia is
thinking of having the art work redone and Felicia wanted my
opinion. I said that it wasn't too good a game as it stood
but that it might be improved. Felicia asked if I'd care to work
on it but I said not now or in the immediate future.
Wrote to Bill Rawlings (see 3/22/72) asking him about VETO,
KAOOA, SIXEACE, TEDCO 3D, & COMPROMISE.
Wrote to Phil Cohen declining his offer of Boyer's
LES JEUX D'ECHECS NON ORTHODOXES and asking him if he had
Boyer's NOUVEAUX JEUX D'ECHECS INTERESSANTS.
At Boston Rd. got repros [reproduction] of the rules for BOUNDARY and
sent those. Mentioned FOUR-SCORE, TEEKO, and offered
to send him repros [reproduction] of BUGS AND LOOOPS.
Started a letter to Robert E. Horn thanking him for sending me
THE GUIDE TO SIMULATION GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
Did most of the work on preparing boards for marking
sorted data cards in COMPUTER BINGO.
(cont. from 5/12) [5/25]
To Pacific Games. Spoke to Jerry Kale about the game business in
general. The cost of materials is skyrocketing and he has a lot of
trouble finding substitutes. Most of his items are developed in
house but will look at other items. He prefers a "group" of items
rather than a single item. He brought up Gini Scott and the way
she goes from manufacturer to manufacturer peddling the same
wares. He thinks it better if a free-lance limits the number of
companies he works with.
Took a review copy of DIMENSIONS. He suggested SPACE CHESS
and told me it was different from the other 3-board CHESS
games. I took a copy. Also took acopy of MAGNATRIX which is
not a game but the kind of novelty he'd like to get more of.
He was interested and I promised to send him the address
of GAMES & PUZZLES Magazine.
He had a puzzle, CHAOTIC CUBE, which I remembered seeing
under another name. He didn't think so. Later found it in 1970
diary under name QUIXOTIC DICE QUBE PUZZLE, put out by Pacific.
Rcd. a letter from Larry Blandin who wrote tome at the
suggestion of Al Nofi. He sent me information concerning the
INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW in Chicago on 7/22 and 7/23.
The I.F.W. and DIPLOMACY seem to have something to do with it.
