17 MONDAY - APRIL 1972
PATRIOT'S DAY (MASS.) - 108TH DAY - 258 DAYS TO COME
To Rochester. Settled in hotel by 11. To Xerox exhibit hall. Working
on putting "grab-fab" on game parts and putting parts
together. Worked till 12:30 with breaks for lunch in "As you
like it" and supper (duck with orange sauce) in "Shakespeare"
with Bernie Lane.
Called BB. There was a tube from Simile II. Undoubtedly
Mike Abrams game - BLOCK 'N SCORE.
Bernie suggested a novel GAME idea. Use cards with
various scratch smell patches. Move by identifying the smells.
Met John Rasor and his assistant Mary McKee who will take me
to an early morning (8:30 to 10:00) TV show Wednesday morning
on Ch. 13. John will take Herb to a program on Ch 10
(I believe at about the same time.)
The 6 ORBIT didn't arrive. Bernie called Bob Hallowell's
secretary and asked her to send them by air. She will.
(cont. from 4/18) [4/20]
Called Claude and he called back. Talked a little about Earl's grant
application. I suggested getting together towards the end of
next week but Claude hopes to be in Atlantic City on vacation.
Called John Geiger in answer to his call of Tuesday. He wanted to
talk about Jed Gaines' plan (see 4/14). He met with Jed and
some of the others during the week, with no conclusive
results I gather.
I mentioned that he had left G. & R., but he said they dropped
him. He argued when they kept getting him into deals
that cost him more than he made.
He hasn't been doing any new games or any selling of the
games [illegible crossed out] for some time because he is very involved in a fight
to keep A.T. & T. from setting up a headquarters in his town. When this is finished he'll get back into it. He'll keep in touch.
Phil & Dale saw AGOG (Castle) "on sale" for $2.55 in Wannamaker's.
[Started 4/20]
(cont. from 4/21) [4/21]
from a hand each turn. Then throw dice to determine
number of thousands of dollars to place in a safe. With doubles
and possibly other number combinations can rearrange or
take a card from an opponent, etc. Can't complete a combination on
one of these special throws. (Needs further thought.)
Al & Adela Richter here in the evening. Told Al about Lillian's
(cont. on 4/16)
