30 THURSDAY - MARCH 1972
PESACH - FIRST DAY OF PASSOVER - MAUNDY THUSDAY - 90TH DAY - 276 DAYS TO COME
To Repro Shop on Boston Road for repros of the 6 p. & p. games.
Also got 5 of TOURNEY and XANDO, and 5 of AIR BATTLE and
HEXOWORD (playing sheets).
To Delmonico Hotel. Herb Hochstetter joined us. Played parts of
most of the p. & p. games and Herb liked them, altho he
didn't have the patience to play any of them completely.
Before Herb came I asked, after something came up about
it, how the stock sale was going. He has a new underwriter
but it is still very touch and go. He feels that even if he
isn't able to do the games someone else will be.
We discussed solitaires and I pointed out that HEXOWORD
was a solitaire. They'll probably feature that in the blurb.
They would like me [to] come up with one or two additional
solitaire games. Said I'd work on it.
Bob had a prototype of the board box for WILDCAT and it
really looked great. Actually only the front was complete.
Told Bob & Herb about HOLEY TERROR and they were interested,
but didn't seem in a hurry.
Phil Orbanes called and I also spoke to him. Asked about
Bill Knox and GROOVE and HOLEY TERROR. Knox is still on an
extended vacation in Europe but should be back shortly. Phil will
get after him as soon as he gets back.
Bob took us for a fancy lunch in the hotel restaurant.

Talked with her and three others. Their study is based
on following children who were in Head Start. There are
about 20 teams doing this around the country and their team
is concentrating on the use of games, but the children are
only up to the 3rd grade.
They are interested in classifying games and, altho I told
them that my classification system didn't apply to children's games
at all, they ran off some xerox's of my classification
sheet. Also a bunch for me.
When they come up with a classification system they may have me
hired as a consultant, at $100 a day to go over it.
One of the women, Marsha, had some connections with companies
that might want games developed. She will mention me to them.
She also thinks there might be interest in a book by me. Told
them of my contractual commitments with Random House.
Showed the AGOG and Esther said they'd get some copies. They
are now using LOTTO mechanism for most of their games. Want new mechanisms.
Walked to 19th St. to the address given for ECCENTRIC.
It was a private residence with nobody there. Looked
up the telephone number and called Earl's. No answer.
