18 SATURDAY - MARCH 1972
78TH DAY - 288 DAYS TO COME
Checked the Xerox drawings. To Boston Post Road and got repros
of three drawings with corrections. Also repros of the
isometrics of BEAN BAG TARGET, CONNECTION, and MILL.
Wrote to John Rasor and sent him the 6 repros.
Rcd. a letter S.W. Wynn, an Englishman who got my name from
Martin Gardner. He sent me the rules of his GO variation
called HEXAGO and asked my opinion of it, and possible manufacturers.
At John's brought a Hong Kong designing toy that can be
used for playing HEXAGO. Placed it in the box with TRIAD.
To the Richter's in the evening. Brought along 4000 A.D. and
DIALEMMA. Looked at the former and played some of the
second, just the two of us. Played that each player had
the ten dials of a color. Place them on blank posts until
all are taken and then put last two on post with opponent's
color. Move one of your dials in turn, either to an empty
line, or switch with other on the game post, or to a line
occupied by a dial from another post. This is moved to an
empty line if available, if not another dial is displaced,
etc. Object to get your dials into one of the following sets
of isolated lines : - All 1's; all 2's; 1-2-3-4; 2-2-6; 5-5. Getting
four out of five sets, in any order, is required to win.
Didn't work out. It was possible to continually block the
opponent from reaching a goal.
In my thinking on this game decided that when 4 played
each player uses 8 dials, so that there are two on each
post. The sets in this case are : - All 1's; all 2's; 1-1-3-3; 4-4; 5-3.
(cont. 3/3) [3/15]
In my conversation with Phil learned that the meeting at
Simulations Office was a discussion about Reiss handling
the T.S. Games.
Phil said that S & T itself just about breaking even.
The money comes from mail order sales of the T.S. Games.
[Started 3/15]
(cont. from 3/21) [3/31]
Rcd. a new board and pieces for NEW TOWN. Also a note
saying that this is the only copy of the board till May 1st
and they must have it right back. Wrote, using envelope they
sent me saying that the exhibit would be 6 to 8 weeks. I'll hold
the board. How should I return it?
