14 Tuesday - March 1972
74th Day - 292 Days to Come
Called Jack Davis. Told him about the Xerox exhibit. He said that
there is bad feeling between 3M and Xerox but he didn't think
that it would apply to something like this. However, he has to
check it out. We decided on ACQUIRE, SLEUTH,
SPEED CIRCUIT, and either TWIXT or FEUDAL as the games to
exhibit. Also reminded him that I'd like a replacement
for the copy of SLEUTH I gave to Dan Mack of WRVR. He'll
get me that too. We both agreed that Dan Mack is a fowl [foul] ball.
Called Mike Alber. Thanked him for contacting Bill Dohrmann about
MASTERPIECE for me. Told him I had sent the revised rules to BIll.
Decided on using MASTERPIECE, French MONOPOLY, FUNNY BONES,
AVALANCHE, and he'll also send me SMESS, in case I decide to use it.
Felicia called. She had written to Hank Simmons and he called her
and spoke for an hour. He is V.P. of Leisure Dynamics in charge of
corporate acquisition and is very happy with his job.
Felicia is going to show him some things and wonders whether she
should include Al Richter's TRY-ANGLES. I said it was an
attractive compilation of little known standards. Al is picking up his
games tomorrow but she'll probably keep TRY-ANGLES.
Hank said that he'd like to have BALI and Felicia wondered
if it might do better with him. I said that Lakeside didn't seem
to be doing too great and she agreed.
Hank sent his regards to me. Felicia asked what was the
thing of mine that Hank had liked just before he left Parker.
THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS - but Hallmark has it under option.
Felicia mentioned LOTTERY as being a fun game I did rather
than a strategy game. He'd like to see it, if it is returned
(did Felicia tell him that Parker was considering it?), Hank thinks
that family games are the coming thing.
They spoke about the Funtastic line and Felicia wondered why
they hadn't taken PSYCHE-PATHS. Hank said they thought that
SCORE FOUR was a great game. She asked me about HEX-O-GRAM
(why?) and I said there was a slight resemblance to
PSYCHE-PATHS.
I asked if she had definitely placed PSYCHE-PATHS with Learning
Games. She is stalling them off, trying to get an answer from
M.B., since she'd rather put it where it will sell the most.
Told Felicia about speaking to Marshall Lucas (saying that "a friend"
had had him call me. Agreed that I would keep SKYSCRAPERS
to show him when he comes here. Also I'll show him DIALEMMA.
When he calls I'll remind him to call Felicia to set a date
to see her. Also I'll call Felicia to tell her about it.
Felicia wrote to Keith Tuggle with condolences, but also asking
about FOREIGN INTRIGUE and J'ACCUSE.
Told Felicia I'd bring her the extra Ideal catalog I picked
at the press room at Toy Fair.
Rcd. a call from Sandra Garson who is doing a piece on adult
games for the American Airlines inflight magazine. Jack
