7 TUESDAY - MARCH 1972
67TH DAY - 299 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. March TOYS. Nothing in particular new.
Called Howard Sussman concerning the "Giant Tinkertoys".
Not available and left my number with info on the
Xerox exhibit. He didn't call back.
Call from Bill Dohrmann concerning my changes in MASTERPIECE.
He checked with Randy Barton and others but they wouldn't
go for the royalties. They suggested $1,000 if they go
for the changes, even if they only use parts. I said
O.K. reluctantly. I'll mail the new rules to him by
next Monday.
Called Lee Tiffany. He said that he was having troubles
finding a shipping crate for sending RSVP. It is
5' x 5' with about 2' legs. SCRABBLE FOR JUNIORS is
3' x 3' with eyes for hanging it from a wall. We
discussed which games of theirs to use in the hanging
displays. I asked for BALI. He suggested RPM but
I said it wouldn't be good for vertical display. He
agreed. He suggested PARCHEESI and I said O.K.
I sent him a letter giving the shipping directions
and saying I'd be in to his office to pick out the games
to display.
Call from Felicia. Hallmark lost the board for CHECKPOINT.
Lillian Voegelin played EXECUTIVE DECISION for the first time
and loved it. She thinks it will be a big hit.
Rcd. a package from Frank Armbruster (sent 3/3 by
U.P.S. Air). Contained SUNKA board and cowrie shells and
rules. Also repro of MANCALA, THE NATIONAL GAME OF AFRICA.
Also included KRYPTO and 8 sets of TANGRAMS (3 red,
3 yellow, 1 white, and 1 blue). Also a booklet - NUMBER PUZZLES.
Made a drawing for GIANT CHECKERS, typical table, and started
3D TTT. Playing around with ideas for BEAN BAG TARGET and
BEAN BAG TAC TOE. Made a rough layout for a 7 x 7 HEX game.
Played by myself and a few games with BB and with Phil.
In the package from Frank Armbruster he included a flyer
describing his course at "The University of Santa Clara".
(cont. from 3/6) [3/16]
This should be something suitable for consideration
by Ideal.
