28 MONDAY - FEBRUARY 1972
59TH DAY - 307 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Kirby Upjohn Anderson of Urban Systems
saying that she hadn't forgotten my request for the
new SMOG rules, but they haven't been printed yet. She
sent me a list of questions and answers on it. She also
thanked me for the interesting article on THE GODFATHER GAME
in STRATEGY AND TACTICS (how about BOOK WORLD?).
To Toy Fair, 200 Fifth Ave. Picked up 2/27 issue of TOY TRADE NEWS.
Has article on "Gamut of Games" about BRIDGETTE and their
new game MY-WORD. Also a picture of HOROSCOPE an
Astrological Card Game put out by "Horoscope Enterprises,
Compton, Calif. Also a picture of GOOGOL box, a mathematics
game by Six Sixty Corp., Clawson, Mich. (At least I think
it's mathematics). Also a picture of (Gini Scott's) NOSTALGIA.
Also a notice asking for information from publishers for
inclusion in THE GUIDE TO SIMULATION GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING
-2nd edition.
Picked up a copy of TOY FAIR WORLD, put out by TOY AND HOBBY WORLD.
Nothing new to me.
(To Parker but Bill Dohrmann was in a conference.) Went to Avalon
Hill and spoke to Tom Shaw. FRANCE is their new game
and will be out soon.
Told him about the Xerox exhibit and asked him for copies of
GETTYSBURG, FRANCE (if available), and ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II.
He suggested TUF and I said I'd try to get it in. I'm to write
to him to remind him. He wants a b. & w. picture of
His rep, Erwin Lewis, room 1017, asked for a copy of S & T and I
said that I would bring him a copy.
To the Renwal rep's office. Irb Lubow and Lou Wetzel supposed to
be there but wasn't.
To Parker. Made date with Bill Dohrmann for Wednesday at 3:00 P.M.
Tom Atwater was there playing Alex' SQUARE OFF with Ed Parker. Said hello to them both.
Went to "Tinkertoy" office to try and talk to Howard Sussman
about the giant Tinkertoy for Xerox. He was in conference.
Met Dick Harris of M.B. in the hallway.
In press room met Marvin Katz (who did the GRIT piece on
me). He is now a free-lance doing pieces for PLAYTHINGS
and TOYS, as well as none-game things. There was a big
lay-off at TOYS and he is no longer an editor there.
He may be doing a book (for Stein & Day, I believe) with
the stories being some famous games. He may include
me and ACQUIRE.
To Statler-Hilton: -
Stancraft : - Spoke to Mary Hilt and she had me come back later
to meet Norton Cross, the new Product Development Manager.
Asked them about TRANSFORMATION not being mentioned on the
royalty statement. They'll check, but possibly it is because of
the advance which wasn't made up. I hinted that I'd like to take
the game back but Norton said that they'd keep trying with
