13 SUNDAY - FEBRUARY 1972
QUINQUAGESIMA - 44TH DAY - 322 DAYS TO COME
Called Arthur just to keep in touch. He and Wald are still working
on ESP type GAMEs and says they have some interesting
new developments.
He talked about a rift between Claude and him. He's willing
to make up but Claude will have to make the overtures.
Wrote to Eric Nielsen. Spoke mainly about ISOLATION. Also mentioned
TOUCH AND GO (TAG) and LOONY CITY.
Started a letter to Haar Hoolim.
Claude called. We'll probably get together at Earl's during week.
Frank Armbruster sent Claude two more copies of GENIUS BLOCKS,
more finished this time.
Rcd. a telephone call from Conrad Schwarz (see8/25/70 & 2/18/71).
He has a game WORLD POWER which is based on the use of
natural resources in a struggle between nations. He asked for
Felicia's address again and I gave him information on her terms.
Started working on a layout for the Xerox exibit exhibit. I
don't think there is enough material to fill up the space.
Thinking of ideas for greater skill version of MASTERPIECE. When
a player lands on a space with a dollar value he can, instead
of following the directions, buy a painting from any opponent for
that amount. Later thought - throw dice; if 7 or less pay 1x
the amount; if more than 7 pay 2x.
(cont. from 2/18) [2/24]
NOSTALGIA is doing quite well.
A company in California not currently in the game business
has commisioned her company to do 12 games to be
ready for the stationery show. She can't say their name.
She saw Mary Hilt at the show (where?) and bought a
copy of TRANSFORMATION. She also bought a number of
other games. // I told Gini that Stancraft's performance was dismal.
She is thinking of running game reviews in her
club newspaper and asked how to get copies of games.
Told her to contact the P.R. people.
Pressman doesn't have anything new in games this year
and seems to be just about out of the game field. Tho
they have licensed OH FUDGE abroad.
When I spoke to Bob Gellman he mentioned that Gini
had been there with a series of "talk" games. He
was interested in one but she wanted to place them
as a set. He said she was very nervous.
