10 THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 1972
41ST DAY - 325 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a post card from Phil Cohen. Told me that
he had recently sent CHALLENGE & DELIGHT OF CHESSICAL & DECIMAL
to me. Asked for copies of my column for S & T #27 to 29.
He is writing in NOST-ALGIA and recommending the
remaindered copies, but would like me to get something out of it. (AGOG).
Opened my letter of 2/8 and added the 3 columns and a
note about the Castle Book edition of AGOG.
Rcd. a letter from Mary Hilt. She will be at the Toy Fair
Sun. the 27th and Mon. the 28th. (I'll have to get to see
her and ask about TRANSFORMATION.)
Rcd. Feb. PLAYTHINGS.
E.S. Lowe advertised CLIMAX, a copy of an action game
usually known, I believe as MOON PROBE. Also GLOBETROTTER.
S. & R. is coming out with a series of COOKS TOURS games.
The first in the series will be a European Tour.
Sgt. Pepper has a card golf game - PAR-GOLF ($7.50 for two decks
of cards and a scoresheet.
New products has TETZL by Small Wonders, a pyramid put
together out of 6 identical pcs.
LITTERBUG by Urban Systems is for 4-10 year olds.
In Detroit a game called STRATO-TACTICS was reported as doing well.
Rcd. 130 copies of the reprint edition of AGOG. Checked and
they did a good job of changing the things I wanted changed.
Rcd. a long distance call from Bill Dohrmann of Parker Brothers.
Mike Alber wrote to him with my comments on MASTERPIECE.
Bill agrees that it could be a much better game. He said they
consider it their "Model T". LANDSLIDE is an improvement on the same
theme (which I had noticed). And DEALER'S CHOICE will have
much more choice.
If I can come up with an advanced version of MASTERPIECE they
certainly would be interested. I can't change the pictures,
but the value cards can easily be changed, and the board
also, but not as easily. I said that I'd try to stick with it
just as it is.
He brought up compensation and said that, rather than getting
into royalties, a flat fee would be better. I said let's wait
until I have something to show him. We'll get together during Toy Fair.
Wrote to Michael Trombetta - a question on ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR I.
Mentioned ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II.
David L. Carawan - where to get DIPLOMACY and a GO board.
Also books on GO.
Jim Bynum - comments on his game THE NINE CHECKER GAME
(after going thru his sample game).
(cont. on 2/9)
