4 FRIDAY - FEBRUARY 1972
35TH DAY - 331 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. THE GENERAL (Vol. 8 - No. 5, Jan.-Feb. '72)
Nothing of particular interest.
Rcd. the CHALLENGE & DELIGHT OF CHESSICAL & DECIMAL from
Phil Cohen. Contained the following games : - CAPABLANCAN CHESS,
DECIMAL FALCON-HUNTER (SCHULZ CHESS), HALF-QUEEN'S CHESS,
CHESS TWEEDLE GAME, CENTAUR ROYAL, CHIMAERA, BLOT-STRAIGHT CHESS,
(CHESSICAL TERNIO), MOCK CHESS, DAMATE GAME, WYVERN CHESS,
MEDDLER'S CHESS, GORGONA CHESS, BEST DECIMAL BUTTER, AMBI-CHESS,
(L & R CHESS). (Placed in Phil Cohen folder.)
Rcd. THE GUIDE TO SIMULATION GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING
by David W. Zuckerman & Robert E. Horn. (Through Tom Atwater,
Horn wrote to me as president of Information Resources, Inc.)
Contains descriptions of many school simulation games
and some non-school games such as MONOPOLY, ANZIO,
TUF, etc.
Horn sent me a note asking if I could suggest any
new games. I'll have to tell him about ACQUIRE, BAZAAR,
EXECUTIVE DECISION, etc.
He asked if my book (AGOG) was out. If not, maybe
they would be interested in putting it out.
Jack Davis called and asked me to call Daniel Mack at
WRVR later in the day. Did. He wants me to bring him
the games : ACQUIRE, EXECUTIVE DECISION, TWIXT, MR. PRESIDENT,
and SLEUTH (which I mentioned to Jack and he said by all means
bring and he'll replace it). He['ll] have them tested and get
intelligent questions to put to me in an interview, in about a
month. Told him I'd drop them off on Monday.
Mailed copies of the "Capital Gains" material to Silber and the
1971 statements to Michaelson at 3M.
(Cont. from 2/25) [2/28]
Looked at POINT OF LAW quickly. There is a "case book" with
100 cases. One of these is read out and each player secretly
picks a verdict. Score for matching the actual decision
on the case. Also if a majority choose a different verdict
they all score.
Met Tom Atwater by chance. Alex has 5 options with Hallmark -
BUFFALO, GOOD KNIGHT, POT and two others Tom didn't
remember. They are also considering ROUND THE CLOCK. Ravensburg[Ravensburger] of
Germany is also considering ROUND THE CLOCK. Ravensburg[Ravensburger] has taken options on TOUR and DAISY CHAIN and is considering some others.
3M is coming out with MAD MATE in their very expensive
line - Tom thinks it should be in the cheapest with only the rules
and the covers, with purchasers supplying their own CHESS men.
(cont. on 1/22)
