21 FRIDAY - JANUARY 1972
STONEWALL JACKSON - BORN 1824 - 345 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Alice Ricca of Impact/Public Relations
thanking me for my reviews of THE GREAT DOWNHILL SKI GAME.
She is sending me copies of TENNIS ANYONE? and SHOVE IT.
Rcd. a letter from Julie Kugel thanking me for the review of
BUGS & LOOOPS.
Rcd. another copy of the Dec. 19th BOOK WORLD. It was mailed
1/5/72.
Drove to Mt. Cisco to see Bob Hallowell. Showed him the diagrams
for AIR BATTLE, DRILL FOR OIL, XANDO, COLD WAR, CONNECTIONS,
and SUBSIDUARIES. And explained the play. He thought they had
a lot of play value.
He asked when I could have the instructions and I told him
how busy I was and that the middle of February was the
earliest possible.
When we went to the Chinese restaurant we stopped at a
copy shop to have five of each reproduced. I told him to
keep them since I was going to the place in the Bronx on my
way home.
The check for NINE OF SWORDS (abt. $832) was sent out about
a week ago. Bob thought that he had sold about 10,000 copies, but
the royalties don't agree with this. He'll check. He originally
made about 16,000 and will sell the rest, but won't make any more.
Took two swords to replace the ones that came broken.
Bob Reiss' original reaction to FUN CITY was good. But when he
showed the model to some buyers at a show in Chicago
their reaction was that it wasn't worth $6.00. Bob Hallowell
thinks that it may have been due to the poor quality of the
model. He'll probably invest another $400 in another model
and try again. If it doesn't work out he'll give me the model.
Gametime will be going public in the next few weeks. With the
new money he should have plenty of financing for at least the
next two years. // Told Bob about THE 19TH HEX and he is
interested in doing it very inexpensively.
To Copy Shop. Machine only making single copies. Got
five of each of the 3 p. & p. sheets.
Felicia called while I was out. Called her and she had seen
Bob Gellman. She told him that she had heard he was not paying
Ken Morgan for MOVIE MOGULS. He said they were in sound
financial condition and offered to let her look at the books. The
trouble with Ken Morgan is that they are paying an exorbitant
royalty.
I asked if she had mentioned that he doesn't have the latest
layout for JET HOLIDAY. She had forgotten and suggested
that I call him.
He told her that a contract for JET HOLIDAY and a letter
acknowledging receipt of HIGH FINANCE and GIRL TALK were
on their way to her.
