19 WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 1972
ROBERT E. LEE - BORN 1807 - 347 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Jim Bynum asking if I had rcd.
THE NINE CHECKER GAME (see 11/16/71). Rcd. Jan. PLAYTHINGS. Nothing of particular interest.
Call from Phil Orbanes. He will try to set up an appointment
with Bill Knox to show him HABITAT and
HONORABLE RELATIONS, as soon as possible.
Hoi Polloi is still interested in FREE FORM, in possibly a
$5 or $6 package, so as not to conflict with Bill Knox.
Phil had worked up some wooden puzzles for Hoi Polloi
to sell at about $3. Reiss showed them to buyers at
a Chicago Show. They thought they were too expensive.
They [illegible crossed out] (Hoi Polloi) are very anxious for wooden
items in the $1 and $2 range.
When Phil leaves Hoi Polloi there are a number of manufacturers
who want him to work on development for
fees and royalties. He wants me to get into this with
him and we'll talk about it next month.
Yesterday he showed me a box he had devised to be folded
from a single piece of cardboard, which does the same
job as the three pieces used in THE 9TH DIMENSION TAROT.
This is for the TAROT deck Hoi Polloi is putting out.
Working on equipment for FOREIGN INTRIGUE. Finished the
cards and made up a sheet with four diagrams for
the pads.
Mad a diagram on half of a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. for AIR BATTLE.
(cont. from 1/20) [1/21]
to form a hex. Around the outside the
lines must be continuous where they meet.
[Diagram of what appears to be a 3 dimensional triangular prism comprised of 2 or 3 separate pieces.]
(There are 3 positions, upper - middle - lower.)
Al showed me a plastic cutter which he uses to cut
sheets of plastic which he gets in hardware stores. It can
be bought from
{Cope Plastics Illinois, Inc.
{1111 West Delmar Ave.
{Godfrey, Ill. 62035
It is #303 Special Plastic - Plus Cutting Tool" ($1.95 plus abt.
40 [cents] for postage). (Also ask for a catalog.)
When Al showed me his first PUZZLE I told him about
THE 19TH HEX.
Played JET HOLIDAY, including (9 yr. old) Brian. He came in
second. Al won.
The four of us played LANDSLIDE. Not bad. Al won.
Bob Hallowell showed me two of his new products.
[Diagram of a small rectangle with a line across the center horizontally and a dot above the right end of the line, and below the rectangle is a circle with 6 circles and a dot inside it - looks similar to the barrel of a revolver.]
An enclosed platform, as shown, with a ball to be
dropped thru the center hole. Also a "frisbee" that
glows and lights up when thrown.
