3 MONDAY - JANUARY 1972
3RD DAY - 363 DAYS TO COME
(cont. from 1/2) [1/3]
want to meet with Ruth Shaler, unless the deal with Martine
falls through, since Martine is very well travelled.
Rcd. a call from Carl Eisenberg. His company will probably be
going out of business. Among other things, Reiss was unfair to
him. When selling he pushed Hoi-Polloi first, then Mag-Nif,
then Gametime (having a piece of this), and there usually
wasn't any money left for the other companies. Carl said that
American Iguana - CLASS - would not deal with him any more.
I asked about the girls who put out THE WELFARE GAME and he
thinks they are going out of business.
Carl asked me who was in charge at 3M as he would like to
see if they are interested in taking the line. Told him Bill Caruson.
He asked me about X and said if anything came of it I would
get a "finder's fee". I told him that the information originally
came from Felicia and she should really get the fee. He took
her address and telephone number.
I called back a few minutes later to tell him not to say anything
about NINE OF SWORDS to Felicia. He was talking to her
already, but had no intention of saying anything to her.
A few minutes later he called to say that she didn't think that
X would want to pay any large initial payments and he
wanted that rather than royalties. He will send her catalog
sheets but he doesn't think anything will come of it.
I mentioned Parker and he said that they wanted FRENETICS
but not BRIDGEVERYONE and AQUARIUS 2000, and he has to
place them as a unit. Parker offered him a job as Manager
of their potential Adult line. But Carl doesn't feel
that they know much about what they want to do.
He also has an appointment to speak to Stancraft about
a job there. I told them about their miserable performance.
He said they didn't have anything worthwhile. I said
that TRANSFORMATION was mine and was a good game. He said
they had messed up the production of it, and I had to agree.
He'll keep in touch and let me know where he lands.
Dad finished the translation of AKTENZEICHEN XY UNGELÖST, writing
it. Then we translated DAS MILLIONSPIEL together. Since it was
quite simple I didn't write it down.
In the call from Carl Eisenberg he said that he had a great GAME idea, if he can get "legal permission". He would like
Phil Orbanes & me to work it into a game as soon as he gets settled.
He'll contact us in a few weeks.
