1 SATURDAY - JANUARY 1972
HAPPY NEW YEAR - FEAST OF CIRCUMCISION - 365 DAYS TO COME
Got columns for Jan., May, and Dec. '71 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN
from Jerry Frederick.
Further thoughts on FOREIGN INTRIGUE. Thinking of going back
to 3-man conferences. Before any other activity in the conference
any one can announce they have identified a
spy, but without announcing who it is. If the two players
other than the conference leader announce, the leader
decides who will challenge. No other business is involved in the
conference. The player eliminated places his 6 cards out of
the game, except that if he has a "choice" card it is given to
the player staying in, who discards one of his own cards.
(cont. from 1/6) [1/6]
Jim says, has a lot of war game reviews. Martin Campion is
now interested in doing a listing of non-war games, such
as ACQUIRE, etc. He is an ardent collector and Jim thinks I
ought to get in touch with him. Or he will have Campion
write to me (he is somewhere in the mid-west).
We called Phil Orbanes and both spoke to him. He was just ready
to give his notice to Reiss when he was given some game
development assignments, particularly a TAROT game to replace
the one that had been supplied by the girls on the west coast.
Jim and he thought that he should try to arrange to work
part time for Reiss on the developing, but give up the office
management, and also work part time for S & T.
I asked about Bill Knox and GROOVE. Phil said that when Bill gets
involved in getting a project ready he forgets everything else.
Phil is sure that once the production problems are licked we will
get the contract.
Phil has pretty much gotten Bob Hallowell interested in doing a
line of board games. INFINITY is one he'd like and as soon as
it materializes Phil and I will work on it.
I suggested FREE FORM, but Phil said that Manny Lefkowitz
was still very interested in it. SPACE STIX is also still alive
with Hoi Poloi.
Phil and I talked about Carl Eisenberg and we both knew pretty
much the whole story. Phil's impression on Stancraft
was that someone there wants Carl to really put the game line
on its feet. Phil is damaged with the loss of royalties
on AQUARIUS 2000. His game PRIX will also be held up.
Phil will show HABITAT and HONORABLE RELATIONS to Bill Knox,
next time he is in town.
Phil thought that the package of pencil & paper games with
Bob Hallowell would be a good seller.
Jim brought a copy of AGOG for me to sign for his aunt. I also
gave him a copy for himself.
